About Marc Adler

Marc J. Adler received a BSc in Chemistry from UC Berkeley; a PhD from Duke and subsequently worked as a post-doctoral research fellow at both Yale University and University of Oxford. He then transferred this expertise to teaching, as Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Northern Illinois University and now as an Assistant Professor at Ryerson University, and now as an Associate Professor at Toronto Metropolitan University.

The work conducted in Adler's research lab is based in synthetic organic chemistry and broadly focused in two areas: Developing green synthetic methods using organosilicon compounds and the synthesis of organic molecules for application in biology.

In addition to his academic work, he co-founded both a biotechnology startup focused on small molecule drug discovery and a whiskey startup using technology guided by principles of organic chemistry to accelerate the ageing of spirits.
