Dr Lars Laamann is a Lecturer in the History of China at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London. He specialises in the history of imperial China, including popular religion, medicine, drugs and healing and Manchu culture in the Qing empire.
Lars Peter Laamann received his PhD in 2001 and is a Senior Lecturer in History at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London.
His research focuses on the history of imperial China, including popular religion, medicine, drugs and healing and Manchu culture in the Qing empire, as well as the creation of the welfare ideal in modern China.
A parallel field of research is his Manchu studies with the emphasis on the role of religion in Manchu/Qing society.
